Shark Fishing

What is Shark Fishing?
One of the most popular Key West sport fishing charters, shark fishing trips are a huge hit with anglers of all ages and skill levels. Even better, sharks can be caught any day of the year.  The day starts off with some top water fishing for bait. Barracuda, Jacks, Bonito, Bluefish and other heavy bleeding fish will help attract the ultimate predator you’re looking to fight.  When the scent of blood from fresh kill is carried by the wind and tide, sharks will smell, taste and follow the blood trail from a very long way.  Sharks are very furious, aggressive fish and will put up quite a fight for survival so if you love the thrill and excitement of a challenge, Key West Shark fishing is a charter you’ll enjoy. Once the battle is over, the shark is released unharmed. In the case of a trophy catch, measurements and photos can be taken if the angler wants to get an accurate replica mount.

Tackle Used
Medium to heavy tackle (higher test line and heavier rods) with a combination of chum and bloody bait fish allows an angler to hook this apex predator. Belts and harnesses help bring this angry fish to the boat.  The tackle is adjusted as needed according to the species biting as well as water and wind conditions.
